Private Training for Better Interviews

On this one-day workshop, you’ll learn how to film interviews and talking heads that look production ready, sound clear and feel natural on camera. We’ll work through the full setup, from camera position and framing to lighting, microphones, directing the subject and shaping the footage in the edit.

This is a hands-on day. You won’t just be watching someone explain settings. You’ll set up shots, film interview clips, review what worked, fix what didn’t and leave with a much better understanding of how to make interviews look and sound professional.

A practical day focused on filming interviews and talking head videos. From planning the setup and making your subject feel comfortable through to camera settings, lighting, sound and editing the best moments into your finished video.

Interview Preparation

Learn how to prepare for a video interview before filming begins, from understanding the purpose of the video and planning the questions to choosing the right location, background, camera settings and setup.

Framing Talking Heads

Learn how to frame interviews properly, including eyeline, headroom, background choice, lens selection and how to make the person on camera look relaxed and confident.

Lighting & Sound for Interviews

Learn how to light a talking head setup properly and record clear, usable audio, using simple techniques that make your interviews look and sound far more professional.

Directing & Editing the Interview

Learn how to help your subject relax on camera, guide the conversation, choose the strongest moments and start turning your video footage into a clear, professional-looking edit.
